Friends, my blog has moved to a new platform, and I’m sorry to say that I haven’t yet learned to add photos to my fiber art photo gallery that I keep on that blog. Meanwhile, I do have some 2019 work to show, so, until I learn to add them to my gallery , I’m just going to show them off as part of a blog post.
This is Spirit Moving Over the Waters, which takes its name from the Book of Genesis: "Now the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
This is Grass Island, a felted, hand-emboidered landscape with photo transfer. Located on the Connecticut shoreline, Grass Island, Guilford, CT, is a favorite family outing destination. We appreciate the salt air smell and the iconic shack.
This is a felted portrait of my neighbors’ dog, Zara. I created it in order to brush up on my skills for teaching Felted Pet Portraits at Guilford Art Center. Zara is a cavapoo, a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a poodle. Much of this image uses her own hair.
The student work from that class was pretty special. Here’s one example.
This is Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail:
I created this one to practice landscape felting in order to teach it at West Hartford Art League.
The artwork that students created in that class was pretty special:
I have three other pieces in process, but I’m not ready to show you yet. In the meantime, it’s now gardening season! Right there, that’s a big drain on the time I spend art quilting and felting. But gardening is an art of its own.
In my next blog post, I’m planning to write about some of my garden beds, like the one above, how I decided what to plant there, and how it’s working.
