Boat Meadow Creek, Detail
Boat Meadow Creek, 2019, 30 x 40. This is a whole-cloth quilt, painted, thread-painted, and quilted
Heaven on Earth I. In this image of Cape Cod Bay at low tide, the water is so shallow that the reflection of a magnificent sunset is reflected on the sand, as if heaven were on earth. This image, an art quilt painted with Jacquard Lumiere paints, hangs in a private collection in Colorado.
Buddhist Temple I. This is a image of a hilltop temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand, called Wat Phrathat Doi Sutep. It was a holy place, and I was inspired enough by its mountaintop serenity to create two images of it, this one and the one below. The words at the bottom of this piece describe the Buddhist Eightfold Path to Nirvana.
Buddhist Temple II. This is an image of a hilltop temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The building was reached via a long staircase with sculpted handrails in the form of guardian dragons called naga. In this depiction, each of the steps bears a statement of one of the elements of the Buddhist Eightfold Path, the route to Nirvana.
Fragile Ties. Many thanks to Vermont basketmaker Jackie Abrams for this image of an American woman, Jackie, learning techniques from a basketmaker in an African village. I call this art quilt Fragile Ties because the relationships between people of different races can be fragile, even in the presence of the best of intentions.
Heaven on Earth II. This image of a sunset reflected in the shallow water of Cape Cod Bay brings the glory of the heavens down to earth. This art quilt, which is painted with Jacquard Lumiere paints, currently hangs in a private collection in Colorado.
Heaven on Earth III. This image of a sunset reflected in the shallow water of Cape Cod Bay currently hangs in a private collection in Hartford, Connecticut.
Heaven on Earth IV. This painted art quilt shows the glory of a sunset reflected in the shallow water of Cape Cod Bay.
